KENNESAW, Ga. – Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Andy Eggerth will be speaking at the 2011 United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention symposiums Dec. 12-15 in San Antonio, Texas.

The USTFCCCA Convention symposiums cover a wide range of topics including event specific training, technical aspects of track & field events, and professional development, among others. Head coach Eggerth will be joined by some of the top coaches from around the nation as he speaks on “Improved Cueing for Enhanced Skill Acquisition in the Sprints.”

Eggerth holds a Level 2 certification from the USATF in combined events and throws and a Level 3 certification in jumps as well as an “Elite Coach” certification from the IAAF in sprints and hurdles.

“It is a huge honor to be speaking to the best coaches in the country,” Eggerth said. “I feel it as my responsibility to give back the knowledge and insight that so many great coaches have passed along to me through out my career.”

Eggerth will be working in two different areas, as he will speak on the science and physiology of track and field as well as teaching a class for the Track & Field Academy.

The Track & Field Academy is an educational and certification program designed to provide professional development opportunities for coaches at all levels of the sport. The mission of the Track & Field Academy is to deliver ongoing educational experiences and certification opportunities, covering the technical, managerial and philosophical aspects of the profession.

The Track & Field Academy’s curriculum is a sequential, organized program of instruction with certifications and endorsements for multiple levels of the coaching profession. Courses and programs range from broad based instruction to specific, highly technical courses. In addition, the Track and Field Academy will provide opportunities for professional development in other areas including academic monitoring, recruiting, and meet management, among others. The program will offer multiple opportunities for continuing education without the need to exit the program once certifications are achieved. The Track & Field Academy is open to both members and non-members of the USTFCCCA.

“This is also a great name recognition opportunity for the Kennesaw State program,” Eggerth said. “There will be college and high school coaches from all over the nation and to network with everyone will be a tremendous opportunity.”

All four of the KSU Track & Field coaches will be in attendance for the symposium as they look to gain insight as they head into the start of the 2012 season.

“I am excited and looking forward to learning from the best this industry has to offer,” assistant coach Duane Morris said. “The symposium allows for valuable intuition into each coaches specific area that you cant get from anywhere else.”
