Fellenbaum Earns ECAC Mark At Lehigh

Fresman Melissa Fellenbaum Qualified In The Pole Vault

Bethlehem, Pa. (Dec. 10, 2011) - The Women's Track and Field team's efforts Friday night at the Lehigh Fast Times Before Finals Meet were headlined by junior Melissa Fellenbaum (Mount Joy, Pa./Hempfield) who earned the first ECAC qualifying mark for the women's program.  Fellenbaum reset her school record from the week prior with her jump of 3.25m, eclipsing the ECAC standard.

Sophomore Stephanie Coleman (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) earned her way to the MAC Championship with her time of 10.26 in the 60m hurdles.  Coleman broke her school record that she set last indoor season in the process and also ran a lifetime best in the 200m, improving upon her MAC mark set last week and a lifetime best in the 60m dash.

Sophomore Erin Verdon (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional) had another strong day in the sprints, breaking school records in the 60m and 400m dashes, qualifying for MAC's in the process with her times of 8.50 and 1:04.99.  Sophomore Laura Mauroschadt (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg), running her first indoor mile, set the school record in the event and narrowly missed the MAC Championship mark.

In the field events, freshman Rachel Heisler and sophomore Amanda Searle (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) traded the school record again in the weight throw, advancing the record again by two feet.  Searle finished with the second best throw in school history with 11.53m and Heisler finished with the new record of 11.84m.  Heisler also improved up her season best and MAC mark in the shot put with a throw of 9.58m.  Freshman Karlee Kominsky (York, Pa./Northeastern) set school records in the High Jump and Long Jump, earning a qualifying mark in the former and improving upon her mark in the latter.

Heading into winter break, the Crusader Women's track and field teams have earned more MAC qualifying marks than in the previous two indoor seasons, have broken 17 school records and have had the programs first ECAC qualifier.  The team will be back in action after the winter break on January 12-13 at the Kutztown invitational.
