Freshman Rondel Parker Finished Second In The 60m Hurdles

Bethlehem, Pa. (Dec. 10, 2011) - The Men's Track and Field team was back in action with their final meet before the end of the fall semester.  Competing at the Lehigh Fast Times Before Finals Meet, against predominately Division I and II schools.  The men's meet was highlighted by freshman Rondel Parker's second place finish in the 60m hurdles.  Parker broke his own record he set the week prior, and narrowly missed the ECAC qualifying mark with his time of 8.65.  Parker also earned a MAC qualifying mark in the Triple Jump, setting the second best jump in school history, with a new lifetime best of 12.75m.

Freshman Brandon Young (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) continued where he left off the week before, earning MAC qualifying marks in the 60m and 200m dashes.  His 200m time of 23.76 breaks the school record, was a lifetime best and earned him a top 10 finish in the event.  Freshman Luis Polanco also ran nice races in the 60m and 200m dashes while fellow freshman Andrew Martin (Thornton, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Zachary Wilson (Newark, De./Caravel Academy) also set seasons best in the 60m dash.  Wilson also set seasons bests in the 400m and 200m dashes on the day.  Martin also broke the school record in the pole vault with his jump of 3.85m and along with Kevin Griffin (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown), who jumped 3.70m, earned their qualifying marks to MACs in the event.

In the mid-distance races, freshman Cody Hughes (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) set a new school record in the mile run  and followed that up earning a MAC qualifying mark in the 400m dash.  Freshman Peter MacNamee (Dublin, Pa./Pennridge) ran a lifetime best in the mile, while sophomore Dillon Emery (Locustdale, Pa./North Schuylkill) hit a season's best in the shot put, just 10cm off his school record in the event.

Heading into winter break, the Crusader Men's Track and Field teams have earned more MAC qualifying marks than in the previous two indoor seasons, have broken 11 school records and have had the programs first indoor ECAC qualifier.  The team will be back in action after the winter break on January 12-13 at the Kutztown invitational.
