ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action this weekend as they host the Southern Tier Collegiate Open on Friday evening in Barton Hall.

Competition begins at 5 p.m. with field events, and track events start at 5:30.

In the teams' last time out, the Big Red women took home first place in five events at the Cornell Relays on Dec. 2 and 3. Senior captain Melissa Hewitt won two events at the Relays, and her 20' 2.5” long jump was the best in the nation at that point of the season.

The Cornell men equaled that feat, claiming first in five events on their side.  Of note was freshman Montez Blair's high jump of 7' 3.5” in his first competition for the Big Red.

Though the field of athletes is mostly made up of Cornell students, competitors from Mansfield University and Buffalo State College will also be participating. Several unattached runners will also be making the trip.
