Track and Field Teams Heading to Armory Invite in New York City

ITHACA, N.Y. – Fresh off its victories in their first scored meets of the season, the Cornell men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action this weekend at the Armory Classic in New York City.

When the team arrives at the Armory, it will be facing a field of 13 other schools that includes Ivy League rivals Columbia, Harvard and Princeton. Other big names in attendance will be Army, Delaware State and Maryland.

Before they take part in the Armory Classic, two Cornell women's distance runners will be competing at the Terrier Classic in Boston on Friday afternoon.

Katie Kellner and Genna Hartung and will be racing in an elite 5,000-meter event and then head to New York City to rejoin the rest of the Big Red.

Saturday's meet at The Armory is a late afternoon and evening affair with track and field events beginning at 5:30 p.m. and going all the way until 9 p.m.

Last weekend the men's team knocked off five other in-state colleges with 246 points at the Upstate Challenge in Barton Hall. The women's team did the same, scoring 214 points in its dominant victory.
