Whitewater, Wis./Winona, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team competed at two meets Friday night. At the UW-Whitewater Invitational, the Eagles placed third with 121 points while no team scores were recorded at the Saint Mary's University (Minn.) Cardinal Open.
At UW-Whitewater, three athletes earned individual wins.
Bailey Alston won the triple jump (35-1 3/4) while
Rebecca Schmidt took the 60-meter dash (7.84) and
Claire Elliot won the 400-meter dash (58.25). Schmidt set a facility record in winning the 60-meter dash. She was also third in the 200-meter dash (26.63).
Other top finishes in the field events included
Hannah Mueller second (17-4 1/4) and
Erika Marisch fourth (16-9 3/4) in the long jump while
Megan Marfilius placed second (5-2 1/4) and
Amy Jo Garinger tied for fifth (5-0 1/4) in the high jump.
On the track,
Caitlin Wippermann finished second (58.28) and
Jenna Halvorson third (58.89) in the 400-meter dash while
Rachel Schroeder placed second (10:35.06),
Corissa Conard third (10:35.41) and
Amanda Gresl fifth (10:42.50) in the 3,000-meter run.
Mueller was third in the 60-meter dash (7.89) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (26.68).
Rebecca Scheuermann finished third (2:20.88) and
Kristin Lillie fifth (2:23.29) in the 800-meter run.
At Saint Mary's,
Jamie Ludwigson won the 55-meter hurdles (8.78) while
Erika Whitson took the pole vault (10-6) for UW-L.
Marissa Mahr was second (9.32),
Alyssa Arentz third (9.37) and
Kali Kramolis fourth (9.49) in the 55-meter hurdles while Mahr also finished fifth (27.89) in the 200-meter dash.
Megan Thiel placed third (7.63) in the 55-meter dash and fourth (27.60) in the 200-meter dash. The Eagles'
Annalie Falk-Pedersen finished fourth (1:01.95) and
Sadie Johnson fifth (1:04.53) in the 400-meter dash.
Alexa Fritsch finished sixth (1:47.32) in the 600-meter run while
Megan Stats was second (2:26.82),
Macy Olson third (2:29.10) and
Marissa Klimmek fourth (2:29.88) in the 800-meter run. UW-L's
Lisa Rydeen finished fifth in the mile run (5:48.31).
In the field events,
Maddison Norlin and
Leeanne Summer Tietz fied for third in the pole vault (10-0) while
Jessica Landergott was fifth (9-6 1/4).
Arentz placed fourth in the long (15-7 1/2) and triple (31-10) jumps.
Bailey Sauerwein finished fifth in the shot put (40-11 3/4) while
Nicole Flackey was sixth in the weight throw (51-0 1/4).
UW-L returns to action Friday, February 17 hosting Winona State University (Minn.) at 4:30 p.m.
