ISTANBUL, Turkey - Former Manhattan College track & field star Aliann Pompey was in action at the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships from Atakoy Arena on Friday. She contested the 400 meters for her native Guyana.
In her first round heat on Friday morning, Pompey finished third in a time of 54.63 seconds. That time was good enough to qualify her for the semifinals. However, Pompey drew the difficult lane one in her semifinal heat that evening and failed to advance to the final.
The World Indoor Championships were the first major international competition of the year for Pompey, who is currently training for this summer's London Olympics.
