UW-Platteville Invitational Results
Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field squad placed third at the UW-Platteville Invitational Saturday night. The Eagles finished with 119.5 points while Wartburg College (Iowa) won the invitational with 156.0. UW-Oshkosh was second with 145.0 points. A total of 10 teams competed.
UW-Whitewater was fourth (92.0) followed by UW-Stevens Point (71.5), UW-Eau Claire (69.0), Loras College, Iowa (46.0), the University of Wisconsin (32.0), UW-Platteville (32.0) and the University of Dubuque, Iowa (8.0).
UW-L's
Marissa Mahr earned an individual title Saturday as she won the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.44).
Other top individual finishes on the track included
Claire Elliott fourth (25.30) in the 200-meter dash;
Rebecca Scheuermann fifth (28.09) in the 400-meter dash and Jamie Ludwigson fourth (15.04) in the 100-meter hurdles.
The Eagles' 4x400-meter relay of
Jenna Halvorson, Scheuermann,
Shannon Klein and Elliot placed second (3:50.96) while the 4x100-meter relay of Ludwigson,
Hannah Mueller,
Caitlin Wippermann and Elliott was third (48.06).
In the field events, UW-L's
Bailey Sauerwein placed second (43-5 3/4) in the shot put while
Bailey Alston was third (17-6 3/4) in the long jump and Ludwigson fifth (35-0 1/2) in the triple jump.
Kayla Ashland finished third (5-5) and
Megan Marfilius tied for fifth (5-3) in the high jump.
UW-L's
Samantha Guenther was fourth (102-9) and
Kaitlyn Francour fifth (95-10) in the javelin throw Saturday while
Summer Tietz finished fourth (10-10 1/4) in the pole vault.
UW-L returns to action Friday, April 20 hosting the Esten Challenge starting at 3 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
