ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's track team had a very successful week of competition, with more than 25 IC4A qualifiers and 11 event wins at the tri-meet in Ithaca on Friday against Binghamton and the UK's Birmingham at the Robert Kane Sports Complex. Cornell also had athletes competing at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

A number of very good middle distance and distance performances highlighted the Big Red effort on Friday night, with seven IC4A qualifiers at Princeton. Warm weather, sunny skies and very breezy conditions provided optimal conditions in the sprints and jumps on Friday in Ithaca, but was a bit tricky for the distance events, 400 hurdles and pole vault. The pole vault was even contested indoors due to unsafe high cross-winds. The Big Red took advantage of the nice spring day and good competition from Birmingham and Binghamton to have a very good day.

The Cornell men were off to a great start in the 4x100 as the team of sophomore Chris Bain, junior Jedidiah Adarquah-Yiadom, senior Chase Aaronson and sophomore Kinsley Ojukwu became the third-best quartet in school history with a track record of 40.49, also eighth-best in Ivy League history.

In the rarely run 2K steeplechase, junior Andy Arnold led a top-four sweep of the event for Cornell as he ran 6:30.81. In the 100 hurdles, senior Dan Haberg moved to No. 5 all-time with a slightly wind-aided 14.21w, while Nick Athanasopolous bettered the IC4A standard with a thirdplace 14.76w.

Senior Chase Aaronson ran a wind-aided 10.59w to take the 100, while classmate Brian Freitas pulled a remarkable double in winning the 400 hurdles in an IC4A-qualifying 52.92 soon after placing third in the 400 in 48.78. Classmate Dan Thomas was second in the 400 in 48.63.

Also placing first on the track was Ojukwu, who ran an IC4A-qualifying 21.43 in the 200, with sophomore Justin McColli second in 21.89.
