Winona, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field squad placed third at the Winona State University Warrior Invitational Saturday afternoon at Paul Giel Field. The Eagles totaled 135.0 points while Winona State (Minn.) took the team title with 268.5. Minnesota State University Mankato was second (158.5) and UW-L third. A total of seven teams competed.
UW-L captured the 4x400-meter relay (3:53.03) Saturday while the 4x100-meter relay placed fourth (50.05).
Two individuals claimed titles for the Eagles with
Kristin Lillie winning the 800-meter run (2:18.47) and
Kayla Ashland tied for first on the high jump (5-3 3/4).
Other top finishes on the track included
Megan Knutson second (2:20.91) and
Marissa Klimmek fourth (2:23.71) in the 800-meter run while
Megan Stats placed third (4:53.05) and
Laura Mead sixth (4:55.64) in the 1,500-meter run.
Claire Elliott finished second (25.34) and
Rebecca Schmidt fifth (25.81) in the 200-meter run while
Marissa Mahr was third (1:07.68) and
Rena Kneeland fourth (1:09.65) in the 400-meter hurdles.
Alyssa Arentz was fifth (17.12) in the 100-meter hurdles;
Hannah Mueller sixth (12.90) in the 100-meter dash and
Alexa Fritsch sixth (1:05.91) in the 400-meter dash.
In the field events,
Bailey Sauerwein was fifth (42-3 1/4) in the shot put while
Erika Whitson finished fifth (10-6 1/4) in the pole vault and
Nicole Flackey fifth (165-2) in the hammer throw.
UW-L's
Bailey Alston was sixth (17-1 1/2) in the long jump and
Samantha Guenther placed sixth (129-7) in the discus.
UW-L returns to action Friday, April 27 at the Drake Relays.
