Women's Track & Field Team Competes in Two Meets

St. Mary's University (Minn.) Open Results

Des Moines, Iowa/Winona, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team competed at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and at the St. Mary's University Open in Winona, Minnesota Saturday.  No team scores were recorded.

At the Drake Relays, the Eagles' sprint medley relay of Caitlin Wippermann, Jenna Halvorson, Claire Elliott and Rebecca Scheuermann placed fifth overall (4:02.44) in the college division.  The relay set a school record, breaking the time of 4:03.80 set by Jocelyn Loe, Angela Klatt, Lisa Mickelson and Jessica Dober in 2001.

At St. Mary's, Marissa Mahr won the 100-meter hurdles (15.94) and finished fifth (27.21) in the 200-meter dash.  UW-L also won the 4x100-meter relay (49.70) with Laura Muzia, Bailey Alston, Megan Marfilius and Kayla Ashland.

Other top finishes on the track included Megan Stats second (4:49.48) in the 1,500-meter run while Rena Kneeland was second (1:06.37) in the 400-meter hurdles.  Mueller was second (13.08) and Laura Muzia fourth (13.24) in the 100-meter dash while Annalise Falk-Pederson finished third (1:00.82) and Kristin Lillie fourth (1:01.40) in the 400-meter dash.

Alyssa Luker finished third (2:20.58) and Marissa Klimmek sixth (2:24.16) in the 800-meter run.

In the field events, Ashland was second (5-3 3/4), Marfilius third (5-3 3/4) and Amy Jo Garinger fourth (5-1 3/4) in the high jump.  Bailey Alston finished second (16-3 1/4) in the long jump.

Erika Whitson placed third (11-0 1/4) in the pole vault while Maddison Norlin and Summer Tietz tied for sixth (11-0 1/4).

Amanda Bridleman finished fifth (97-3) and Samantha Guenther sixth (92-4) in the javelin throw while Jessica Ramel was sixth (149-10) in the hammer throw and Bailey Sauerwein sixth (41-0 1/2) in the shot put.

UW-L returns to action Friday, May 4 at the WIAC Outdoor Championships at UW-Whitewater.
