ITHACA, N.Y. -- A pair of Cornell student-athletes have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's and Women's Track/Cross Country Teams it was announced earlier this week. Senior Nick Huber on the men's side and sophomore Emily Shearer for the women will both advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

Huber, an NCAA qualifier and national championship contender in the decathlon, earned a spot at nationals with a school-record 7,632-point effort earlier this season. He won the Ivy League Outdoor title in the decathlon and also claimed the indoor title in the heptathlon this season. He has been part of three Heptagonal championship teams and owns school records in the pentathlon, heptathlon and distance medley relay indoors, as well as the decathlon outdoors. Huber won the 400 meters at Heptagonals in 2009. He has posted a 3.42 grade point average in Industrial and Labor Relations.

Shearer was the winner of the team's Fleet Morse Award, presented to the team's most improved athlete. She took fourth in the 3K and third in the 1500 at outdoor Heps. Her mark in the 1,500 was good for eighth all-time in Cornell history. In cross country, Shearer earned second-team All-Ivy honors and finished 11th overall at the Heps, helping the team to its first title in 13 years. She is posting a 4.10 grade point average in biological sciences.
