Jaspers Compete at USATF Junior Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Three members of the Manhattan College men's track & field team concluded their freshman season by competing in the USATF Junior Championships at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex on Friday.  Edward Brentnall (Atlanta, Ga.) was in action in the hammer throw and Phil Ragan (Belmar, N.J.) threw the javelin, while Greg Perrier (Dix Hills, N.Y.) participated in the heats of the 800 meters.

Ragan was the Jaspers' top finisher at the meet.  He grabbed seventh-place with a mark of 62.28 meters (204 feet, four inches).  In the hammer throw, Brentnall's best effort of 60.30 m (197'10) was good enough for ninth place.  Running in the third heat of the 800, Perrier finished fourth in a time of 1:52.90.  However, he just missed out on being one of the five time qualifiers that advanced to the final, taking 11th overall.

The top two finishers in each event at the USATF Junior Championships will represent the United States at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain from July 10-15.
