Joe Ryan Returning to Olympic Games

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College assistant track & field coach Joe Ryan has been appointed as a team official for the delegation from Guyana at the 2012 London Olympics.  Ryan will march in the Opening Ceremony on July 27 and be in London throughout the Games.  During the Olympics, he will contribute a regular blog at www.gojaspers.com.

This marks the second straight Olympics in which Ryan will be a part of the Guyanese delegation.  He was the head coach of Guyana's track & field team at the 2008 Games in Beijing.

Among the athletes representing Guyana in London is former Manhattan star Aliann Pompey.  Pompey, who has continued to work with Ryan since her graduation, is now a four-time Olympian.  She made the semifinals of the 400 meters at both the Beijing Games and the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
