West Salem, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country squad captured the Jim Drews Invitational Saturday morning at the Maple Grove Country Club. The Eagles totaled 45 team points to win the title with UW-Platteville finishing second with 111. A total of 27 teams competed and 461 runners completed the course.
Central College (Iowa) finish third with 131 points while Iowa Central Community College finished fourth (161) and St. Olaf College (Minn.) rounded out the top-five (184).
UW-L is ranked seventh in this week's national polls while UW-Platteville is 22nd. O
Josh Dedering led the Eagles with a fifth-place overall finish with a time of 25:30.6 on the 8,000-meter course.
Josh Kaul was sixth (25:35.3) while
Nate Routhier finished eighth (25:38.7) and
Justin Lauria-Banta 10th (25:41.7).
UW-L's
Mark Punzenberger placed 16th (25:47.6) while
Tom Linner finished 19th (25:51.9),
Sam Simones 26th (25:58.3),
Eric Lauria-Banta 34th (26:13.7),
Jacob Peterson 35th (26:14.2) and
Gerald Kerska 38th (26:17.0).
Stanley Kebenei of Iowa Central won the individual title with a time of 24:45.3.
UW-L returns to action Friday, October 19 at the Luther College (Iowa) Dual.
