Let's put up all the good things our graduates are doing in NCAA competition! I'll start with Joanna Wright (RJ Reynolds '07) who qualified for nationals yesterday at the East Regional with a vault of 13' 1.75" (an outdoor PR for her). NC was very well-represented in the women's vault, with at least 5 graduates competing.

I see Pat Springs (MT/UNCC) made it to nationals, too, with a 5th in the long jump (20' 9"). A lot of NC grads in the finals of events today...I'm sure I didn't see all of them, but here goes. Melissa Council (Cary/WFU) 400 Johnny Dutch (Clayton/South Carolina) 110/400 hurdles Antonio Sales (ECH/South Carolina) 200 Charlton Rolle (RJR/Tenn) 110 hurdles J-Mee Samuels (MT/Ark) 100 Darius Law (SER/UNCC) 200 & 400 Ronnie Ash (Knightdale/Bethune-Cookman) 110 hurdles Booker Nunley (Garner/South Carolina) 110 hurdles Aja Jackson (?/UNCC) 800 Lamarra Currie (Apex/UNCC) 100/200

What happened to Willie Perry from West Caldwell? He was tearing it up at Florida, last I heard. I looked on their web site yesterday, and I didn't even see him listed. Has he gone pro? Injuries? Off-track problems?

North Carolina is often criticized for its lack of distance runners and this distribution clearly shows this. NC is strong in many events, especially the sprints, but the state is very weak in distance. Basically, NC is a T&F state, not a CC state.

4 Jack Bolas JR Wisconsin 3:37.64 ME 05-02 R2-7 At least one NC long distance guy made it to NCAA's this year. Ryan Hill would have had a good shot at it but I think he red shirted outdoor.
