LSC Announces XC Honors

RICHARDSON - The Lone Star Conference recognized 30 student-athletes, including four Wildcats, and two head coaches as league officials announced the annual cross country all-conference honors.

The announcement comes following the LSC Cross Country Championships on October 22. Eastern New Mexico won their first-ever men's title and Midwestern State claimed the women's crown for the fourth consecutive year.

All-conference honors are given to those runners who finish among the top 15 individually at the conference meet, while additional awards are presented for Coach, Newcomer and Freshman of the Year on both the men's and women's side.

ENMU's Mike Harney earned men's coach of the year honors, while MSU's Koby Styles was the women's coach of the year for the fourth straight year.

Newcomer of the Year acclaim went to ENMU's Isaiah Samoei and West Texas A&M's Elizabeth Beltran. Cameron's Hillary Kirwa and Incarnate Word's Amanda Bishop claimed Freshman of the Year honors.

The coaching honors were selected by a vote of all the LSC head coaches, while the newcomer and freshman awards went to the highest finishers at the league championships.

The Greyhounds Samoei was the individual medalist to headline the all-conference list. He was joined by teammates Tallam Kipruto, Tyler Saiz, Mohamed Noor, Jacob Lozano and Justin Netcher.

Abilene Christian's Fabian Wessel-Terharn and Spenser Lynn placed 5th and 11th, respectively, for the runner-up Wildcats. Texas A&M-Commerce finished third led by All-LSC performers Isaac Chelimo and Everett Wilder. Also earning recognition were Texas A&M-Kingsville's Kiya Dandena, CU's Kirwa, WT's Dylan Doss, Angelo State's Bryan Barker, and Tarleton State's Chase Rathke.

On the women's side, MSU's Brissia Montalvo captured the women's individual title, with teammates Ashley Flores, Janel Campbell and Michelle Krezonoski earning All-LSC honors as well.

WT finished second with Beltran and Amber Moore pacing the team, while ASU was third amid Emeline Crutcher's fourth-place effort. ACU's Chloe Susset and Alyse Goldsmith, UIW's Bishop and Emma Jewell, ENMU's Nicky Reid and Adrienne Montoya, and Tarleton's Lindsey Hinton and Karen Ramming were also on the All-LSC list.
