Bobcats of the Week‼️

@batesrowing - Ben Auerbach ‘25
Auerbach moved up to the first varsity eight and helped the Bobcats win a silver medal at the National Invitational Rowing Championship. With Auerbach in the fourth seat, Bates finished second to Tufts in their morning heat with a time of 5:51.081. The Jumbos won the race in 5:49.035 as both crews advanced to the grand final. Then in the grand final, the Bobcats flipped the script on the Jumbos, finishing second out of six schools in 5:41.064. Tufts (5:41.930) and Williams (5:41.957) were hot on their heels, but Bates beat them for the silver medal and one of two automatic bids to the IRA National Championship.

Bates MV8 lineup: Bow: Erik Lindholm; 2: Sean Christiansen; 3: Luke Johnson; 4: Ben Auerbach; 5: Oliver Firmenich; 6: Charles Renvyle; 7: George Fauver; Stroke: Luke Desmaison; c: Darien Chiang

@batesxctf - Isabelle Demeritt ‘25
Bates women’s track and field senior Isabelle Demeritt turned in the performance of her career to date on Saturday, running the second-fastest 10,000 meters in program history to highlight the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza for the Bobcats. Competing in her first 10K for Bates since 2022, Demeritt raced to the finish in 36:11.85. Her time was good for fifth place at the meet and second on the Bates all-time performance list behind only the great Katherine Cook ‘18. Cook finished national-runner up in the event in 2018 with her school-record time of 35:17.48. It’s the third straight week that Demeritt has set a personal record, following her 5K time of 17:21.04 at the NESCAC Championships and her winning time of 4:43.16 in the 1,500 meters at the Pine Tree Classic. She now ranks 33rd in the country this year in the 10K.

Big news from the National Invitational Rowing Championship!

The @batesrowing men’s first varsity eight finished NESCAC runner-up, earning a silver medal AND an automatic bid to the IRA National Championship thanks to their second-place showing in Sunday’s grand final on Lake Quinsigamond.

Also, huge shout out to our women’s third and fourth varsity eights, both of whom earned bronze medals on Sunday. The women’s 1V finished fourth in their grand final and they will find out this Tuesday if the Bobcats make the @ncaadiii championships.
