It was not advertised in any form or fashion as a meet for high school athletes, but the high schoolers who showed up did everything they could to raise the quality of the meet. 

And one thing is abundantly clear--there's a great deal to look forward to in the next several months of high school track and field.

First to show up was Mariah Walker. We're familiar with Walker as a shot putter and discus thrower, but she's adding to her repertoire. There's still some rough edges to be worked over, but Walker definitely intends to become as adept at the weight throw as she as with the other implements. And, yes, she did eventually get around to throwing the shot put today, too. The message she sent there was a big one--heaving the ball 45-11.75.
