Cameron Todd, Rachel Forysth Are Tour De Force At Midwest

After cruising to an IHSA Cross Country State title, the Downers Grove North boys, the No. 14 ranked team in the nation, grabbed the NXR Midwest Regional title with 115 points.

From there, it was a frenzied race to the line. 

Plainfield North followed with 166 points, then Plainfield South ... with 167. 

Cameron Todd, a recent Notre Dame signee, continued his successful season by grabbing an NXR Midwest title fresh off his Indiana state title. Todd faced the national competition and set a personal best of 14:43 for 5K. 

Three seconds behind him was Floyd Central's (IN) Will Conway -- second to Todd at states in Indiana -- who crossed the finish line in 14:46. Dylon Nalley of Marion (IL) was the third-best runner with a 14:47. 

Eight boys dipped under 15 minutes for 5K on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

Two auto-qualifiers from the rich distance state of Illinois solidified their spots at NXN.

Five individuals from this region -- two from Indiana and two from Illinois -- also punched their tickets to Portland. Aden Bankdukwala, an Illinois state champion, was the fifth-and-final qualifier.

Mt. Prospect was able to secure the Midwest title with 125 points. 

Similar to the boys program, Downers Grove North finished second and was able to grab the last auto to NXN. While they scored 138 points, they edged out York by 10.

From this region, there's an individual who is a national title contender.

Rachel Forsyth continued her undefeated season by clocking her tenth-straight sub-17 minute 5K performance. Forsyth, the Michigan State commit from Ann Arbor Pioneer, broke the tape in 16:31; she was the only girl to dip under 17 minutes. 

Selma Anderson finished second and freshman Isabella Keller crossed the finish line in third in 17:18.
