Air Force Holiday Open to Roll Out Indoor Season

There's no more waiting around if you've been aching for a fix of track and field. The indoor season opens today at the Air Force Academy.

The meet is formally a college/open meet, but the meet is open to all athletes ready to compete at collegiate level heights (hurdles) and with the collegiate size of implements (throws). Accordingly, each year this meet draws a small handful of top high school athletes itching to resume the feel of competition before the holiday season brings all meets to a temporary halt.

The track distances contested late this afternoon and into the evening will be somewhat of the odd variety, including 300 meters, 500 meters, and 1000 meters.

Colorado schools with this meet on their schedule include Air Force, Western State, Adams State, Colorado Mesa, and CSU-Pueblo. A lengthy list of former Colorado high school athletes can be expected to be in uniform for this meet, though probably none of the athletes who recently competed at cross country nationals will be running here.

Field events get underway at 2 PM. Track events start at 4 PM.

Colorado Track XC will be on-site with coverage of this event.
