Clemson senior Spencer Adams won the 60-meter hurdles in a nation's leading time, on Saturday, in the Orange & Purple Classic meet hosted by Clemson University. Adams picked up where he left off last indoor, clocking 7.62 seconds, just two one-hundredths off his personal best of 7.60. Adams also set a facility record en route to a .64 margin victory.

Wow! That's all that can really be said to sum up this past weekend's performances across the nation. With great weather, peak performances and deep fields, some of the results simply impressed. With nearly ten seperate state meets to cover, and numerous other top-tier invitationals, we've decided to merge it all into one big article, a new feature we're going to call The Awards Stand. Each week for the rest of the season we'll recap what the top performances were in each event grouping. See who made it this week. (Photo of Texas' Kyle Clemons by Alex Aldaco)
Some of last year's best athletes have quickly put themselves right back at the top. Liberty University has hosted 2 early indoor meets which some NC teams have decided to travel to. While many teams are running outdoors in "polar bear" meets, Parkland, Cummings and a few others have made the trek to Virginia for the indoors.
It didn't go as expected, and the NC athlete we thought would win didn't, but all in all a spectacular race for North Carolina. Looking at any National Rankings list during the season, it was evident that North Carolina was very strong in the boy's hurdles. Maybe it's in the water?
High school stars such as: Dylan Ferris, Trenton Guy Jr., Spencer Adams, and Nyosha Bryant all won events this weekend. Find out where . . . Adams of Butler after his win in the 110H. (photo by Jason Byrne of flrunners.com)
