In a two mile race on the track, Courtney Smith of Unionville won in comfortable fashion with a time of 10:48.5 to win by 24 seconds over Jamie Costarino of Springside. Unionville placed five in the top six in the girls race to continue their strong 2012 season. For the boys, Steve Yannacone of Unionville edged out Kenny Leidal of Downingtown West by just over a second to win the race in 9:36.6. Tony Russell of West Chester Henderson was 3rd and led a 3-4-5-6-8 team finish for Henderson.

Indiana Area boys placed three in the top four led by league champion Adam Lenze (17:35) to earn the county championship over Balirsville 46-61. For the girls, Hannah Fulton of Marion Center cruised to the league championship with a 42 second victory with a time of 20:40.5 and her performance led five in the top twelve overall to win the league title by one point over Indiana Area 29-30.

Midwestern Athletic Conference
Mars Area narrowly escaped a comeback bid from Moon Area for the team title, with Mars 5th runner finishing 13 places behind Moon Area's number 5. In the end, three runners in the top twenty was enough for Mars Area to win the league title 96-98 over Moon. Individual championship honors went to Marshall Bruce of Beaver Area, who ran 16:56 to win by a single second over Jake Deweese of Freedom Area. For the girls, Moon Area had a comfortable race to the league title, placing three in the top ten led by a 5th place finish from Madison Marince to defeat Quaker Valley 50-88. Alexis O'Shea of West Allegheny ran 19:50 to become the league champion by 5 seconds.

South Fayette boys earned a narrow 72-79 victory over Bethel Park to win the team championship led by a 4th place finish from Evan Zombek. Tyler Rigby of South Park won the individual title by seven seconds over Ryan McGuire of Trinity Christian with a time of 16:21.8. For the girls, Betsy Erlanger of Upper St Clair ran 18:51.6 to win the individual title by a comfortable 40 seconds and her win led her team to a comfortable team title win over Peter's Township 54-92.

Brent Kennedy of Kiski Area became the county champion with a winning time of 17:08 to win by 20 seconds over Jon Faye of Hempfield. Kennedy's performance also led his team to a team title win over Franklin Regional 39-69. Behind Kennedy, Kiski Area also had three other finishers in the top ten overall. For the girls, Kiski Area completed the team title sweep, placing five inside the top eighteen led by a 5th place finish from Lauren Smeltzer to defeat Hempfield 54-62. Hanna Green of Latrobe ran 20:05.7 to win the county championship by 16 seconds over Kaitlyn Figurelli of Franklin Regional.

Abington Heights junior Tessa Barrett led from the start and never slowed down, taking home the individual title in the girls race with a time of 17:58.7, the first girl to break 18 minutes this season! In the team standings, host William Tennent finished a close 2nd to Maryland's Our Lady of Good Council 51-56 with Julia O'Donnell finishing 5th to lead the runners up. For the boys Chris Berry of Central Bucks West held off Collin Crilly of Our Lady of Good Council by under 2 seconds to win the gold medal in 15:30.2. Berry's performance also led his team to a narrow victory over host William Tennent 100-113, despite Tennent's 37 second spread from their first five runners.

Aziz Yousif of Bradford shattered the course record with a winning time of 16:37.2 to win by just over 3 seconds. His team would finish a close 2nd to Oswayo Valley 38-40 with the champions finishing with four inside of the top ten and 3-4 finish from Spencer Cole and Gabe Rees. In the small school race, Gabe Trimbur of Coudersport ran 17:27.7 to earn the silver medal. For the girls, freshman Riley Crissman of Bradford earned a silver medal with a time of 21:36.2 and her performance helped lead a narrow team title win over Allegany-Limestone 28-30, with all five scoring runners finishing in the top ten. In the small school race, Morgan Soule of Northern Potter ran 20:41.6 to win the individual title.

Her performance of 18:48 was over one minute better than teammate Carol Strock. Their 1-2 finish was not enough to secure the team championship, as PA's number 2 AA team Palmyra placed three in the top ten led by a 5th place finish by Maria Tukis to win the title 70-87.

Curt Jewett of Northeast Bradford took home the league title in a close race over Aaron Valoroso of Towanda and his teammate Sam Williams, with all three running 15:45 or faster. Northeast Bradford did win the team championship over Towanda 44-71 with five inside the top 20 overall. For the girls, Casey Norton of Troy comfortably won the individual championship with a time of 18:53 to win by 23 seconds over Lydia Werner of Northeast Bradford. Wellsboro placed five inside the top 19 to win the team championship over Towanda 56-64, despite a 2-3 team finish from Katelin Purdy and Destiny Foster.

Russell was toward the front at about 800 meters into the race as the group crossed the bridge for the back hills. He made special note of the 3-4-5-6 runners on the team who were in the 100's after the start, "but kept rolling up on people and finished with six seconds of each other." Russell took some satisfaction in beating all the CBA runners. "The course was one of the most fun that I've ever run," but "…The planks threw off my stride so I never got into rhythm."
Germantown Friends boys finished 15th with a score of 413 points with Sam Aziz leading the way with a 21st place finish (12:49.7). Ean Disilvio of Taylor Allderdice finished 52nd to lead his team to a 25th place finish. In Varsity A, Jabari Freeman of Abington finished 33rd to lead his team to a 16th place finish with 451 points. In Varsity B, Holy Ghost Prep finished 9th with 260 points and St Joe's Prep finished 11th with 264 points. Christian Kardish of Holy Ghost Prep finished 29th to lead his team. In varsity C, Lucas Shwed finished 39th to lead Cheltenham to a 14th place finish with a score of 401 points. In Varsity D, Elk County Catholic finished 26th with a score of 700 points and were led by a 36th place finish from Ryan Detsch. In Varsity F, Archbishop Ryan finished 23rd with 692 points. ![]() For the girls, Kennedy Weisner of Elk County Catholic ran 14:22.9 to finish a close 2nd to champion Reagan Anderson of Tatnall. After the race, Weisner said she was just trying to stay near the front. "It is awesome to run these meets and stay up with the top girls." ![]()
For Pennsbury, it was their highest finish ever in the Girls' Eastern States race behind the 4th place 14:38.6 by senior Sara Sargent. Their 114 points were only behind upset winners Tatnall (DE) and perennial National Champions Fayetteville-Manlius (NY). Pennsbury's 1-5 was 1:01, with the sixth scorer one second behind fifth. Pennsbury head coach Don Little said their goal was to be competitive with the top team. "I feel we did that." Little continued, "Sara had a great race, and all of the girls worked together." The Pennsbury girls also notched a team title and a 1-2 in their JV race. Elk County Catholic finished 15th in Easterns.
![]() ![]() In Varsity A, Archbishop Ryan finished 23rd with 610 points with Jackie Bamberski leading the way in 72nd. In Varsity B, Taylor Allderdice finished 14th with a score of 407 points with a 46th place finish from KeriAnne Hensel. In Varsity F, North Penn finished 3rd with 115 points and were led by a 13th place finish from Courtney Kern (15:41.2).
In non-varsity races, PA fared well. Germantown Friends won the Freshman Boys B Race of 2000 meters with 66 points behind 3-5-8 finishes by Grayson Hepp (6:24.6), Calvin McCafferty (6:30.8) and Gordon Goldstein (6:33.1). The Henderson boys captured 2nd in the Junior Varsity E race as Ricky Waltz (13:37) and Kevin Moy (13:51.7) went 1-2, with Will Smart (14:00.7) in 4th.
In the Freshman B race for girls, Caitlin Harrity of Germantown Friends was 3rd in 7:06 for the 2000 meter distance. The Pennsbury girls won the Junior Varsity B race with just 40 points. Frosh Bailey Balmer won the race in 16:16, with Jackie Sweeney in 2nd at 16:24.1, Hannah Papazian 6th in 16:44.7, and Heather Benton 7th in 16:45.4. And North Penn's girls were 3rd in the Junior Varsity C race behind Colleen McGovern's 16:40 2nd place. The Pennsbury JV B team was 4th in the race.

Knoch were able to use a 1-5 spread that was 1:13 seconds better than Maplewood to win the team title 69-75, despite a 1-2 finish from the brother combination of Jeremy (16:50) and Jake Parsons (17:06). Preston Carlsson led the way for Knoch with a 7th place finish. For the girls, McKenna Spence of Cranberry ran 20:20 to win the individual title by 16 seconds over freshman Abby Jones of Knoch. Jones ran 20:36 and her performance led five in the top 15 overall to cruise to the team title over Cranberry 39-86.
