Does anyone know how old Yves is supposed to be? If he's not coming back, my top 5 is: Palamar Flanagan Sleiman Coughler Druken After that it's a crapshoot, anyone who's broken 9:10 and run close to 9:05 has a shot at that top 10.

Yves will be back, he was only in grade 11 last year.. There's a lot of grade 12s coming back such as Darlington, King, Bourget, myself and hell of a lot more that I cannot think of but I heard this year was one of the largest amount of victory lappers in awhile! Preds 1. Yves Sikuwabu 2. Xavier King 3. Jeremie Bourget 4. Connor Darlington 5. Eamon Kichuk 6. Paul Raymond 7. Adam Palamar 8. Ben Flanagan 9. Ryan Sleimon 10. Alex Freemantle Darkhorses: Harisson Sloan, Jeremy Coughler, Shawn Masters and Sam Baxter. Team wise, the only team I really know of is my own (we're the exact same team as last year that got the silver medal) but I won't toot my own horn there. There are some strong teams coming from junior I assume seeing it is a very strong year so we'll see how it all goes! Plus Sarnia Northern did not too bad as well as RS (I believe they're all coming back as well). These are preds based on my current knowledge, (for those who see that I posted my own name, it is entirely based on my training, my last years performance at OFSAA and where I anticipate my fitness being by that time based on training not by ignorance or whatever).

FYI, Elmhirst transferred schools to Huron Heights. They've assured him he'll be able to compete.

@Raymond SG additions - Carlee Cassidy 12th last year in SG while junior age and 4th at OFSAA steeple should be solid Megan Yuan from Thunder Bay (not sure what school) won Youth National 3k and has run 10 flat this year and I would pick her for a top 10 Stephanie Daley from Peterborough went 10:14 for 3k this year and is in grade 12. Rachel Faulds, Carlee Cassidy, Stephanie Daley and Alexandra Rainville are all in COSSA and I don't think any will have teams so one of them (not Rachel if her coach does his job!) will be top 15 potential but not even going. It is definitely a tough year for COSSA SG. Emma Galbraith and Lindsay Kary from Ottawa are both solid top 10-15 runners too. Is Cleo Boyd coming back for a victory lap? Oldster?

@CoachFaulds Correct me if I'm wrong but have the cross country qualifications not changed this year? It was my understanding that the individual qualification spots were changed from 3 to 4 this year eliminating the alternate completely. If that is the case then all 4 girls should get to compete at OFSAA, as long as they do qualify. I'm not 100% sure that this change has occured yet or is supposed to occur in the next couple years.

@fifteenhundred I haven't heard anything about this yet but sometimes people who actually coach the sport are the last to be informed about rule changes :) The OFSAA site lists the playing regulations (3 qualifiers and 1 alternate as it has been forever) and they are from 2010 so I would assume there have been no changes. I know that there was some talk last year about going with the A/AA and AAA/AAAA classifications in XC which would be a really bad idea in my opinion but I haven't heard any rumblings about changing the number of qualifiers. This would add an extra 20 runners to every field which is not an ideal situation.

For the midget boys race, i think that callum rodger might be a contender. he ran a 16:52 5k in june and that time would put him in the top 10 for ofsaa midget boys last year. http://www.roadraceresults.com/display-race-results.php?ferec=10777&place=9&r=1000

Lots of people running 60+ secs faster than their recent results over 5k.

@oldster after putting that course (TO Challenge) through gmaps, I found it to be around 3 miles instead of 5k, but then again, what do you expect from a 'race' that gives out bigger prizes to fundraisers than who actually puts in the time and effort. to be fair with the kid though, he ran 17:07 at good friday which is not an easy course by any means (accurate, 2-3 rollers spread out in total plus a deep valley just after 1k. go out too hard like most of the top-40 and expect to slow down a lot) I would put his 17:07 in aldershot a lot better than his 16:59 3 miler at the challenge. as for senior preds, its way too early to be making preds, but expect these guys to be in the top-15 providing they're 100% healthy: Yves, Xavier, Darlington, Kichuck, Bourget, Stephenson, Sleiman, Flanagan

If success on the track this season translates over to cross then Jamie Phelen and Megan Yuan should be two of the top contenders for SG.
