Richmond cuts men's track and field program

Another track and field program bites the dust. The latest university to cut its track and field program, is the University of Richmond Spiders. In a statement issued by  Richmond's Athletic Director, Jim Miller, Miller said "In order to achieve the objectives established in our April 2011 athletic strategic plan, the University of Richmond athletic department is adding men's lacrosse as an NCAA Division I intercollegiate sport." In doing so, the University's sponsorship of men's soccer and men's indoor and outdoor track and field will be eliminated at the conclusion of their 2012-13 seasons.
