Weekend Highlights: 12/6-12/9

 

Reveille Invitational hosted by Texas A&M

Texas A&M junior Casey Strong broke his own school record in the weight throw in a winning effort to lead the Aggies to a strong performance in their first meet of the 2012-13 season.

Strong toppled his record with a 63-10.5 mark in front of 1,345 fans, inside the Gilliam Indoor Stadium, at Texas A&M University, on Saturday.

Strong's performance was one of many highlights from the meet. Aggie newcomer Jennifer Madu sped to a 7.36 win in the 60-meter dash while Prezel Hardy won the men's race in a solid 6.73.

The A&M men's quarter relay of  Ricky Babineaux, Aldrich Baily, Carlyle Roudette and Deon Lendore, broke a meet record with an impressive 3:06.82 clocking, defeating Houston (3:07.60) for the win.

 

Hoosier Open hosted by Indiana

Five-time All-American, NC State's Ryan Hill, posted a 13:43.42 5K to win the 5,000 meter invitational at the Hoosier Open hosted by Indiana University.

Hill, a redshirt senior, won the race by eight seconds over Indiana's Zachary Mayhew  (13:51.79). Texas' Ryan Dohner and Joseph Stilin were third and fourth with times of 13:53 and 13:59.23, respectively.

Sophomore Morganne Phillps broke a 25-year-old facility record  in the 300 meters with a time of 37.70. The old record was 36.93 set by Robin Benhamin in 1987.

Indoor All-American Louisville's Michelle Theophille cleared an indoor best 6-0.75.



Bob Timmons Challenge hosted by Kansas

Oral Roberts senior Jack Whitt led a list of top performers in Thursday's Bob Timmons Challenge Indoor meet hosted by Kansas.

In his season debut, Whitt won the pole vault competition with a clearance of 17'6.5".

Kansas' Paris Daniels ran a collegiate leader  of 7.32, winning the women's 60 meter dash. She also won the 200 in 23.26 (also a collegiate leader).

 

CNU Holiday Open hosted by Christopher Newport

East Carolina senior Tynita Butts cleared 6'1.25 in a winning effort at the CNU Holiday Open, hosted by Christopher Newport University.
