KU's New National Leaders Highlight Bill Easton Classic Todd Grasley Jan 05, 2013

The third-ranked Kansas women's track and field team saw winners in all but one event Saturday afternoon at the Bill Easton Classic inside Anschutz Sports Pavilion. Three Jayhawks posted NCAA-leading marks while 15 individual KU athletes and all four relays took home victories from Kansas' first meet of the new year.

Seaton Receives Three-Year Contract Extension Todd Grasley Dec 21, 2012

UC women's track & field and cross country head coach Susan Seaton has received a three-year contract extension, through the 2015-16 season. The new agreement comes after a 2011-12 seasons that saw the Bearcats finish second in the BIG EAST indoor championship and fourth in outdoor, qualify 10 student-athletes for the NCAA finals and have three finish as All-Americans. It was an elegant and first class show put on tonight in Orlando by the USTFCCCA. This year's Bowerman Awards put track & field on center stage and honored this year's class of top collegiate athletes. This year's awards went to Kimberlyn Duncan of LSU and Cam Levins of Southern Utah (and Canadian Olympian).

Olympic Silver Medalist Josh Mance Transfers From USC Dec 19, 2012

Josh Mance, a member of the 4×400 relay team that won a silver medal at the London Olympics, is transferring, most likely to Florida State. Under NCAA rules for track, he would be eligible immediately. (via www.insidesocal.com)

The University of South Dakota men's and women's indoor track and field teams held their annual Red-White meet on December 8. The meet served as a tuneup to the 2013 indoor season. The intersquad saw three meet records, highlighted by Megan Glisar's record-breaking performance in the high jump, where she cleared 5-8. Below are scenes from meet.

 

 

For Coach Davian Clarke, UTEP Offers the Perfect Environment to Excel Dec 16, 2012

“My desire is to become a well-rounded coach, not only on the track, but also in the throw and jump events,” said Davian Clarke, the former Jamaican Olympian.  He continued, “UTEP offers me a great opportunity to excel as a coach in the NCAA system.” Davian, who has represented Jamaica at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympics and has a lifetime best 20.72 (200m) and 44.83 (400m), was a fixture on the Jamaican men’s 4×400 relays teams for over 10 years. Davian is currently an assistant coach at the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) after spending last season at the University of North Carolina (UNC) under legendary head coach Dennis Craddock, who retired at the end of last season. The Purdue men's and women's track and field teams got into the holiday spirit over the last couple weeks as they joined together with the New Community Charter School in downtown Lafayette to help families in need. The Boilermakers donated their time, money, and effort to purchase and deliver Christmas presents for four different families.

The Florida State men have won the National Championship Outdoor in 2006. 2007, and 2008. The Seminoles look to have a great chance in 2013 as well with the number one recruiting class in the nation according to Track and Field News. Former Boone standout Marvin Bracy headlines the list of what assistant coach Ken Harnden calls a great class.
