MileSplit U catches up with Florida State senior David Forrester for a preseason update.
Q&A with David Forrester, Florida State senior
How did your summer training go?
After recovering from a partial tear to my soleus, which took about five weeks, the summer training went very well and things are progressing nicely.
What type of mileage did you put in over the summer?
I started out at a modest forty for the first two weeks I was back training but was up to mid 70s before returning to join the noles.
How excited are you about your senior season at Florida State?
Im extremely excited. There's a great atmosphere amongst the lads, with the new acquisitions all fitting in seamlessly. I think we have the potential to do big things as a team and at an individual level.
When is your first race?
We have a couple of low key meets; the covered bridge invite and the pre-acc meet up at virginia tech. However, the first meet where we truly get after it will be Notre Dame.
What are some of your goals for this season?
I'd love for us to reclaim the ACC title on the mens side that we lost last autumn. Another goal would be to emulate our team performance from 2010 nationals, moustaches aside. On an individual note I'd like to improve on my 16th spot at nationals last year.
What is something your fans might not know about you?
I have a slight OCD when it comes to smelling good and thus own far too much cologne.
Do you get pre-race jitters? If so, how do you overcome them?
Pre-race jitters isn't something that tends to hit me. I relish the opportunity to push myself to the limit in competition. Race day is my favourite part of running and what gets me out of bed for the early morning runs in Tallahassee.
If you could choose, how would you end your college career?
Well primarily accomplishing the aforementioned goals. After that I'd like to run some big PBs in the spring.
