The Arkansas men and LSU women will be the top teams in the nation heading into NCAA Championships weekend, according to the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Computer Rankings released Tuesday, though Arkansas finds itself in a much more comfortable position atop the rankings.  (via USTFCCCA)

As the battle for the NCAA Indoor Championships is beginning to heat up, so too is the competition for collegiate track & field’s highest honor, The Bowerman Trophy. The men’s Bowerman Watch List for March, released Wednesday, includes numerous collegiate leaders, world leaders, a collegiate all-time record holder and the owner of an all-time heptathlon world-best. (via The Bowerman)

Running On Inspiration: EMU Track Star Beats Incredible Odds Todd Grasley Feb 27, 2013

Last September, 19-year-old Latipha Cross was thrust from relative obscurity into the national spotlight when ESPN released a 10-minute video on her life. Titled "One Sprinter, Many Hurdles," the video told how Cross overcame homelessness and two bouts of cancer to earn a full scholarship at EMU. While the notoriety and accolades were well earned, Cross says the attention was difficult. (via The Detroit News)

Hawkins Named C-USA Female Athlete of the Week Feb 19, 2013

Tyshonda Hawkins was named the Conference USA Female Athlete of the Week after her outstanding performance at the Kent Taylor Invitational last weekend it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. The award is the first-ever for Hawkins.

Senior Jillian King was named women's ACC Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for her performance at the BU's Make-Up Meet last week in an announcement made by the ACC on Tuesday.
